Biography

I’m Jeramy Kitchen. I grew up in Meadows Place, Texas, received a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University, and spent eight years in the U.S. Army and Texas Army National Guard, including two tours in Iraq as an intelligence analyst, before coming home to Texas politics.

Since then, I’ve managed campaigns for liberty-focused candidates, served as a legislative staffer for three Texas state lawmakers, including Chief of Staff for two of them, and run legislative affairs at the largest public policy think tank in the state, among other enterprises.

Today, I’m President of Texas Policy Research, a nonprofit focused on keeping the legislative process transparent, the people in it accountable, and advancing liberty-based solutions that improve governance across the Lone Star State.

The Line is where I write in my own name, about Texas-based policy, campaign finance, and the operators shaping state policy. The work draws on the same instincts I learned in the intelligence field: read the primary source, verify the claim, and don’t trust language that was designed to be trusted.

I live outside the Austin bubble with my wife, Sarah, our three kids, and three dogs.
